Art Camp 2022

It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar and meet new artist friends at the Arts West Art Retreat 19-24 June 2022 hosted by the Arts West Council at Camp Wannakumbac in Riding Mountain National Park after a 2 year suspension due to the pandemic. There were four instructors and over 30 participants - I was in the acrylic/oil painting class led by instructor Lisa Wood from Brandon. I worked on some unfinished small pieces, participated in a couple of the exercises, enjoyed the party night singalong, and survived the tornado warning, heavy rains and hail storm of our last night there. The mosquitos were held at bay with lots of bug spray, and the weather wasn’t too hot after our first night there. Lisa presented on a variety of topics such as deep vs. flat space, process driven art and it was such a wonderful immersion in the world of art with other creatives.

Finishing touches
Jan Jenkins

My joy is creating art from the patterns around me and the visual rhythms of line, shape, colour, contrast. I focus on artwork for smaller living spaces and wearable art for that unique look.
